photo week 21 - La mer

I thought I've seen all the different shades of blue in this world, but the world holds many surprises!
The sky can be so similar to the sea.

I closed my eyes, I started to dream.
I was lying on the shallow seabed, with elbows digging on the sand, watching the beautiful display of oddly-angled shimmers on the perfectly patterned sand. Strangely I could breathe under water, an extremely pleasant feeling it is.
I hear nothing but the sound of the low content rumble of the sea itself.
I turn to face the surface. With hands at the back at my head, I start to blow rings of bubbles. They were initially hollow circular tubes..then they turned into a circlet of dancing spheres, excited to reach the top.
There were no fish, no coral - absolutely nothing. I was alone, but I was happy.

I woke up. And - oh the sun was already setting. There were shimmering lights on my wall, caused by the swaying tree outside.
I remembered my dream, and smiled to myself :)

bungee jumping

There's a little spider with a big butt on the pillar in my room and it seems to be mocking me.
Yes, I feel somewhat intimidated by a spider.
How so?
It was dangling off my post-it note on my wall, spinning its web down going 'wheeeee' (I imagine so...) then climbing back up its spindle and does the same thing over and over again.

Here we go...

wheeeee

How does this intimidate me again?
It had too much free time. A very 无聊 spider indeed.
I might be crazy from doing 13 hours of math today.

It's now curled up into a ball sleeping soundly. I think I should too.

photo week 20 - reminisce

Maybe I'm just feeling hungry/greedy right now..but I miss eating this pastry from Czech!! How is it made? A twirl of dough around a metal cylinder which rotates above the source of heat. It's crunchy, sugar coated. Starting from one end working my way to the other - the perfect snack to have while walking across Charles Bridge :) man I miss Praha....

Geography

I was sooo excited when I found out that The Music Hall will be celebrating Neil Gaiman's 10th anniversary of American Gods on June 22nd at Portsmouth! I was happily searching for train tickets already on nationalexpress untilllllll

I Google-mapped the exact location of the event.

They did mention it was in New Hampshire...but doesn't that sound very much like an english county to you?? Who knew there was another Portsmouth in the US. sighhhhh :( :(
Funnily there were a few other places around it which has the same names as the cities here such as Manchester, Exeter, Durham, Bristol, Plymouth, Bath, Salisbury, Warwick...hmm looks like the whole of England is there..

ooh look and Springfield does exist xD

I have not read the book yet but I shall do so in the summer! And also finish The Sandman comics!! *determined*

And on a another note, the new league table for university guides showed that Bristol is number 21 for chemistry??? and my 2nd choice Durham got number 4. Damnittt.
Sometimes I wonder what will it be like if I went to Durham instead (other than the fact that I would have turned into an icicle sooner than here in bristol). But I'm extremely happy here and that 'Durham-life' would only occur in a parallel universe somewhere....

Enough rambles time for work :D

Taking a break.

Sure everything seems like the world's coming to an end now - exams are coming, the weather is getting colder towards summer (pfft typical british weather), haven't been having enough sleep and I've been indoors longer than I should be. But just to keep my sanity alive (and probably to justify myself) , I shall turn to the bright side of life. Yes the effort I am making is probably the same as trying to get up from my pocket of warmth I've made under my duvet in a cold early morning.

What made me happy this year (so far) :
1. Many birthday celebrations - from the alcohol-free 'children's party' to downing vodka shots
2. I feel more warmth and love than ever before! (it's insaneeee)
3. Lots of photos taken..so far with my new camera ~4000 photos
4. Enjoying my chem course very much (save for biochem and maths)
5. I'm going to move out with 3 others :O exciting stuffsss
6. I'm blogging again!
7. Lots of discoveries and revelations! About others and also myself.

What made me happy this week :
1. The fact that it passed by so quickly - closer to freedom!
2. I started on Twitter again
3. Jogged with a friend and got caught in the rain, later seeing a double rainbow :)
4. Bumping into Mr. Waffles more often
5. Been rather productive on revision
6. Just had my last lab session. Booyeahh

What made me happy today :
1. Had a few laughs with a few of my hall mates during breakfast
2. I was a human alarm clock and managed to wake Mr. Woogly up for lunch.
3. Awesome cheesecake for dessert mmmm
4. I skyped my parents and my cat pooped on the toilet rug in the middle of the conversation (and I saw it all on webcam!)
5. Read this funny theory of Hell in terms of thermodynamics here
6. I finished most of my biochem notes...unfortunately made them too colourful.

And this is what I've been listening to in my revision playlist. It really helps me concentrate!
Ah I feel a little better now :)

photo week 19 - bird is the word

Found this old photo taken by my hand phone 2 years ago at Hyde Park.
Was by the lake and there were many annoying seagulls swarming around (with their biting calls resonating in the air!!)
Somehow I managed to catch this bird with total opposite characteristics mentioned above.
It looked like it possessed no fear for the world.

My collection of pressed flowers against the light (2010-11)
I have less than a week to be prepared for exams!
Less blogging. More work.

i stumbled upon....

I felt like as if I was only using less than 1% of websites in the world so I (sadly) googled :

"What to do on the internet"

There was a whole list of things to do..but I thought the best thing out of the list was
Stumbleupon. It's a site where you choose your field of interests, and well, you start stumbling into things you like!

Sooo I want to share what I stumbled upon today :)
A very cute and meaningful stop motion picture! I love these type of films since I watched Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did :)

superconductors and Britney?

I was searching for the definition of 'Fermi level' (a term used in physics) and the source of the definition caught my attention.

Look how the longest link fits into everything else
This made my day xD
Best definition found so far so I'm going to use this site from now on hahaha.
